About Barbara
Barbara J Lucas is a proud Chicana writer, English teacher, wife and mother of a mixed-race family. She grew up in Texas and attended the University of Alabama on a National Merit Scholarship. Her educational background is in Literature, with an emphasis on intercultural studies.
She currently resides in California with her family and two grey cats—Skittles and Rosie—where she writes and teaches.
As a teacher, Barbara has a passion for research, writing, and critical thinking. Her central aim is to help America’s youth find their voice and develop strong internet literacy.

As a writer, her short story work often focuses on the nature of modern Americana and her experiences navigating it, both as a Mexican-American that grew up in the South and now the mother of a biracial family.
